Since the summer of 2011, Made in Space, Inc. chalked up over 30,000 hours of 3D printing technology testing and 400-plus parabolas of microgravity test flights. With the support of the STMD SBIR program and the Flight Opportunities Program parabolic flight campaigns, Made in Space was able to further demonstrate the capabilities of additive manufacturing in microgravity environments. This week, the Made in Space Portal printer will head to the ISS via the SpaceX Dragon resupply mission, potentially revolutionizing in-space manufacturing.
