The Wall Street Journal (5/20, Pasztor, Subscription Publication, 5.51M) reports that because of commercial space ventures like SpaceX and Orbital Sciences missions to the ISS, the total global spending on space projects increased in 2013. The US still leads the world with 55% of the total spending. The article notes that this comes as NASA works on how it could function at the ISS without Russia if it carries through with pulling out from that project.
