NASA’s MQ-9, dubbed Ikhana, was ready for a dawn instrument checkout flight from NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center in Southern California. The aircraft carried an optical imaging sensor and a maritime radar for the Hawaii flights. Remote operation from a command and control center was verified to enable future support of scientific missions in isolated geographical locations.May 29, 2014
