A robot heats advanced composite materials to form the skin of a composite tank designed to hold super cold propellants. The tank is the size of similar metal fuel tanks used for full-size rockets. Manufacturing on the tank was recently completed at the Boeing Developmental Center in Tukwila, Wash. The tank will be tested under flight-like conditions at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.
