Perseverance Rover

The Perseverance rover is searching for signs of ancient microbial life and collecting samples for future return to Earth.
Perseverance, NASA's most sophisticated rover to date, landed in Jezero Crater on February 18, 2021. Its primary mission is to search for signs of ancient microbial life and collect samples of Martian rock and soil for a future sample return mission. The rover is also testing technologies that could pave the way for human exploration of Mars, including the MOXIE instrument, which is designed to produce oxygen from the Martian atmosphere. Perseverance carried the Ingenuity helicopter, which became the first aircraft to achieve powered, controlled flight on another planet.
