NASA MSFC Research Physical Scientist, Africa Flores-Anderson (ST11) provided a Lunch ‘n learn talk at NASA HQ on Advancing the Detection and Understanding of Deforestation in the Tropics using upcoming NASA Mission Data, in preparation for the new NASA ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) Mission. The talk covered the spatial and temporal limitations of dense optical time series satellite datasets to monitor the tropics and the critical complementarity from L and C band SAR datasets. About 35 participants from NASA HQ joined online and in-person, including Program Scientist for NISAR, Deputy Associate Director for Earth Action, Lead Program Executive for the Earth Science Data Systems program, and several Program Managers for Earth Action.
