Sebastian Harkema (UAH/SPoRT) was selected to participate in the 2024 GPM Mentorship Program. The GPM mentorship program connects participants worldwide with subject matter experts from NASA and other key organizations for hands-on training on precipitation estimates and Earth Observation. Lectures and capstone projects cover a wide array of precipitation-related topics including use of GPM datasets such as the Integrated Multi-satellitE Retrievals for GPM. Harkema submitted a project proposal to investigate how IMERG performs for snow events. His project will inform development of value-added IMERG products for winter weather applications as part of the Short-term Prediction Research and Transition Center.
