Dr. Lee will develop a space based laser network orbital debris remediation concept. This network of multiple laser platforms in different orbits can be used to safely deorbit potentially large numbers of small debris while also having the ability to nudge larger objects through the principle of orbital perturbation by laser ablation. Dr. Lee will develop a suite of mathematical models and algorithms critical to enabling this reconfigurable space-based laser network and evaluating its potential performance.
