Dr. MacDonald will improve the high-fidelity turbulence modeling capabilities for high-enthalpy hypersonic flow applications by including high-temperature thermal and chemistry effects. More specifically, this project will construct a new wall modeled large eddy simulation (WMLES) framework which includes relevant thermo-chemical non-equilibrium effects.
