Alexander Melancon (UAH) and Ronan Lucey (UAH) gave an invited virtual seminar presentation as part of a NASA Minority University Research and Education Project (MUREP) Data Science Equity, Access, and Priority for Research and Education (DEAP) funded seminar series at North Carolina A&T University on applications of NASA Earth Observation products for hazards and disasters applications. The presentation covered an introduction to principles of remote sensing, specific examples of NASA instruments, and several examples of how EO data can be applied for analysis and decision making before, during, and after a disaster. Emphasis was placed on the Transition to Open Science (TOPS) and FAIR principles for data accessibility. Attendees were directed to resources for current NASA EO missions and informed of upcoming missions and their relevance to disaster applications.
