Manil Maskey (ST11/IMPACT) provided an update on the Science Mission Directorate (SMD) Artificial Intelligence initiatives during the kickoff meeting for the NASA Space Weather Centers of Excellence. His presentation particularly emphasized the development of SMD’s Large Language Model and the AI Foundation Model for Science – the two AI activities that are led by IMPACT in collaboration with the Heliophysics division. The Space Weather Centers of Excellence element is part of an integrated multi-agency initiative to advance the science and technology of space weather.
